Comments:: The internet is a BEAUTIFUL thing! : Richard G. Wismer was my grandfather and I've been trying to find information pertaining to his history. I have pictures and records. Here's what I know so far: : Richard G. Wismer participated in 35 missions with the 8th Air Force in England as a B-17 pilot. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with five oak-leaf clusters in addition to the Europen-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon. : The campaigns he flew included Northern France, Germany, and Ardennes. The plane was known as "The Wiz Kids", some people called him by either two nicknames; Bud or Dick. : My grandfather passed in 1966 and was one of the founters of the Air Force Reserve units in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. By the time he passed he was a Lieutenant Colonel. : 1. We're looking for contact info for Wismer Crew members, kin and any Crew photo source. : : : 2.
