Comments:: : 1. We're looking for a photo of this (Boeing) B-17G that was one of the original(camo colored)401BG A/C (Lt. R.M. Fowler Crew, 613Sq) and lost 10-7-44. : : 2. The only National Archives' photos found to-date are 65611AC ('Keep Em Flying' shows tail only) and 65572AC (Combat Mess - shows ceiling panel, fuzzily, of nose art in background, upper right corner). : : 3. Were hoping there's a photo of this B-17 with another or 'unidentified' Crew, or mis-labeled as with a sister Combat Wing or Division group of photos. : : 4. We know there was another B-17 in another 8th Unit named the same (but different serial number). : : 5. Any info, contacts or source suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank's for the opportunity to post. : : : Hello Win, : Yes, there was another B-17G named "Sonof-A-Blitz" serial number 44-6968 assigned to the 493rd BG/863rd BS. Notice the difference in the spacing of the "Sonof" (all one word was the way it was on this plane). : My dad was a co-pilot on this bomber for several missions from mid-February 1945 until he completed his mission in mid-April. : I have found 3 photos of this B-17, but with crews other than dad's. : Take care, : David
