: My uncle Joseph H Joffe was navigator on B-17F, 42-30608 of the 326th BS. The plane was shot down 26 November 1943 en route to Bremen, apparently over the Frisian Islands, possibly Wangerooge. All crew members were KIA. The MACR is 1386. I have not located any photographs of the plane or from the mission.
: From mission reports I have been able to narrow the time of the plane's loss to approximately 11.30AM. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a German flak or fighter report that correlates. Nor have I been able to locate any relevant reports from aviation archaeology sources regarding finds on land or off-shore.
: I have tried to make contact with several individuals involved in aviation archaeology in northern Europe but they have not returned by emails.
: Help in any of these areas would be most appreciated.
You probably found the site of the 92nd bomber squad already, but there is a good record there. The company clerk of the 326th, Michael Kulick, kept a journal. Under 26th of november 1943 he lists the loss of that airplane + crew.
