: You may wish to visit my website at the link below. Select the Bomb Groups link at the left of that page and then bring up each of the 2nd Division groups listed there. See if any of the airfield names ring a bell with you. That might give an additional clue.
Paula, It's a long shot and a drawn out process, but you might try to obtain a copy of your Dad's discharge document which is equivalint to the DD214. It might reveal the last unit to which he was assigned. Hopefully, this would be his BG and BS. You can request a copy from the National Archives and Records Administration and see what transpires. There is a special form that you can print out on the NARA website to request information about a veteran. It's worth a try. George D. Kasparian, Watertown, MA
