I had dinner with Tibbetts three times in Kansas City when I was newsletter editor for the Missouri Chapter of the 8th AFHS. He was a crusty old bastard and hearing him talk, you would have thought he won the war single-handedly. Damn glad we had men like that with the guts and confidence to tackle any mission, including the one to railroad marshalling yards at Rouen-Sottsville on 17 August 1942.
