Simon , I think it could very be correct that you may have to get a licence to dig on the airfield dump, as the contents may still be recognised as gov property as is wreckage from sites , I can make some further enquiries on this on your behalf if you would like me to as I am aquainted with several experienced aviation archaelogists of many years standing . The previous reply to your message is quite right in his statement about old ordance etc of varying types , it can be a "kidd glove" that is needed when doing this . Trevor
