Hello George,
B-17 42-29870 (Big Moose) was delivered to the AAF in Denver on 28 Feb 1943. It was first assigned to the 379th BG at Kimbolton on 2 May 1943. Then, it was transferred to the 365th BS/305th BG at Chelveston on 23 Jun 1943. Again, it was transferred to the 545th BS/384th BG at Grafton Underwood on 29 Sep 1943. It was MIA on a mission to Schweinfurt on 14 Oct 1943 with LT Giles F. Kauffman Jr as the pilot. It possibly crashed near Bruckenau or Ballatu. The entire crew became POWs - MACR 1038 was issued.
