B17 pilot of 50 missions in Europe

Please help me find information on John Hammer from Mansfield, Ohio. He was a 1941 college graduate before entering the AAF. He was a B17 pilot with 50 missions, including Ploesti 1944, Hungary, and north Africa. He was listed as 8th AAF, but may have transferred to 12th AAF and 15th AAF. He passed away in 2003 and I am trying to find information on our men from central Ohio for a school project.
