on june 14, 1944 the dog breath was shot up so badly lossing 2 engines and instruments on a bombing run over corme ecluse near bordeaux france. the pilot 2LT Clark G. Graham not knowing where they were flew out over the bay of biscay intending to ditch in the ocean. after asking the crew they decided to take there chances over land. after lossing power and fuel they could not stay airborne so they crash landed on a road and they found out they were in spain. my father william l. holmes (tail gunner) and the rest of the crew survived to return to duty several months later where they were assigned to the b-17 sack time sioux.
