: I'll agree with you on Jablonski vs. Freeman. That is why I was surprised to see that info on the RO in the nose.
: In Freeman's (and Osborne's) "The B-17 Flying Fortress Story", pg. 41, it describes the relocation of the RO to the nose primarily to help in the aft CG problem. However, upon closer scrutiny, I now get the impression that this modification was performed on only one E model at Bovington. (So much for relying on memory at my age.) If you have a copy of the above book, please read the section and see if you get that impression also.
