AS far as I can tell, there was no 302nd BS involved with any heavy Bomb Group in WWII. However, I think your uncle flew in the 96th BG/ 338th BS based at Snetterton Heath, Eng. There was in fact a B-17 with that Group named "Peders Parade" (43-38777). That B S. had an insignia of a bomb dropping in a pickle barrel. The 96th BG had a square C on their tail and the 338th BS's identifier was BX on the side of the fuselage. Unfortunately, there is scant info on the 96th BG and its squadrons. Hope this helps.
