Kevin and Fred,
Thank you both for making sure Lt Col Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal's passing was acknowledged on this important message board. It is indeed a sad occasion for the Rosenthal Family and the 100th Bomb Group. WE lost a "true" American hero who led by example and never looked for the spotlight. In fact, he shunned the spotlight and would rather acknowledge others around him vs taking the credit for his deeds. I had the pleasure of meeting him at many reunions and in phone calls. He always greeted me with a "Hi Mike and thanks for all you do for the 100th BG". I always felt honored yet small in comparison to what HE had done for the Group and for our Freedom. Read Hawkins Book on Munster or Flying Fortress by Jablonski or Wing and a Prayer by Crosby to see what I mean. Bye Rosie and Gods speed.
