My dad, George E DeGroot, was in the 448thBG. He was in England 11/29/43 - 6/11/45. He passed away in January without leaving us with any in depth knowlege of his military history except a scrap book that no one knew about. We know he was at Seething. He has a mechanic/engineer arm patch, aircrew wings and a personal diary of 18 missions he flew beginning July 29, 1944. He also has a personal flight hours log that lists 30 combat missions. We are trying to identify which plane or planes he flew on, in what capacity he flew and who else was on his crew/crews. It seems he might have been a fill in for short handed crews but he mentions the same names in his diary for most of the 18 missions we have the detail on. He told us he never flew and we now know that is not so. Any help any one could give in information or places to research would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
