Hi Neale,
Project Bits and Pieces shows that 44-6123 M was involved in a mid-air collision with 42-97328 T
"Heavens Above" and crashed at Wurzen, Germany.
Evidently "Heavens Above" was able to return to base as no MACR was issued and the plane made it back to the USA after the war.
The MACR 8433 covers 44-6123 and is available by contacting Lynn.Gamma@MAXWELL.AF.MIL at no charge.
This report should provide some information that would be helpful.
Crew list:
Lt Jack E. Sarten (P)
Lt John H. Pointer (CP)
Lt Joseph Brisken (N)
2Lt James A. Delaney Jr (B)
T/Sgt Ronald C. Musolf (TT)
T/Sgt Larry L. O'Sullivan (RO)
S/Sgt John C. O'Grady (BT)
S/Sgt Charles R. Bissell (WG)
S/Sgt Winston T. Mills (TG)
S/Sgt Thomas A. Bussy (PH)
I'm sorry for your loss. I also lost a brother over Germany.
