Bob,

My father, Lt. Edward Mills, served in the 563rd squadron of the 388th BG.

Thanks to the wonderful labors of many people, there are some excellent resources for researching the 388th. There is the web site, plus three notable publications:

"388th Anthology - Tales of the 388th Bombardment Group" (find it on Amazon). This is a 2 volume compiplation of stories from the vets themselves. (Including Lt. Mills!)

"History of the 388th Bomb Group" - Rare, compiled by Edward Phillips. Try bibliofind.com

"The 388th At War" by Edward Huntzinger - The 388th student's Bible. Also rare, but available now and then on bibliofind.

I have all three, so if you have specific questions you can send them to me and I'll try to find the answers in them.

Also, consider joining the 388th Bomb Group Association as an associate member, which you can do as a 388th vet's son. They publish a great newsletter, and the members are wonderful about helping find answers to questions.

Also, the entire Mighty Eighth Air Force has an angel - her name if Moofy! Post questions on this message board, and incredibly often she'll have the answer.

Good luck in your research. It will be rewarding beyond all expectations.

-Chris Mills
