April 13, 1944 - Schweinfurt Mission - 545th Bomb Squadron

The Ben Bennett Crew (384th BG) was the only 545th Bomb Squadron crew to return to Grafton Underwood Airfield after this mission. Read about them and the painting "Last Man Standing" at http://squawkin-chicken.384thBombGroup.com/page2.html

That was 63 years ago, today. On that mission, the 384th BG lost 10 aircraft, and the crews manning them - including the entire 545th BS, except the Bennett crew - the highest loss of any mission for this group during the war.
