We flew our first mission on june 11, 1943; our target was wilhelmshaven, germany submarine pits.
We flew our 15th and last mission scheduled to bomb Gelsenkirchen germany. weather overcast directed our navigator to strike our secondary target borchum (sp)
We were hit with flak and disabled and left our formation, eventually crash landing in the ruhr valley.
pow 21 months plus.
My question is: wharever happened to the 407th squadron stationed at alconbury. I know they eventually moved to another location, but where, in england?
