AAF Basic training - Miami Beach Area - 1943

I have been told that my cousin took basic training in Miami Beach, FL (he also enlisted in Miami Beach). What facility/base was there for basic training in Spring of 1943? Was there an AAF base, special unit for aviation cadets, etc.?
I'd appreciate your help!
