Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me? I am in the process of researching air crashes in the East Midlands region of the U.K. (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire) and am seeking further information on a crash near Shepshed, Leicestershire.
The only information I have is that it was an early P-47 and the pilot was killed. Several publications give the date as 27 October 1944, but this is incorrect.

I am particularly looking for the aircraft's serial number, date of crash, and the identity of the pilot.
Any information, however insignificant, may help!
