A Report of the Protecting Power dated 1944/02/22 states Stalag Luft IV had no significant violations of the Geneva Convention. I became curious about this report as I knew Stalag Luft IV (Gross Tychow)was not opened until May of 1944. After reading the report I could discern that a small camp located 5 kilometers from the main camp of Stalag Luft III was designated Stalag Luft IV. From another source I learned that men from this camp were sent to Gross Tychow and took the name of their camp with them.
My father was also in Stalag Luft IV and always wondered about the fellows who seemed to be in the core group that ran the kitchens.
So, we seem to have similiar questions. Please let me know if you find any answers.
