: We've lost another great man from the greatest generation. Al passed away at 1:21 yesterday with his wife and daughter at his side.

: Al was not one to talk about the war and his citations include the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

: He was a co pilot out of Seething England in 43/44 and I'm looking for any information on where I can get his crew list, crew # and anyone who may have known him.

: thanks in advance and God Bless.

Hi Todd,

Our world becomes a sadder place each day, as great men like Al take their final flight.

Todd from the book 'The 448th Bomb Group (H) Liberators over Germany in World War ll' by Jeffrey E. Brett.
I can tell you the following information....

2nd Lt. Alonzo A. Bacon (ASN 0760225) was the CP with the crew of 2nd Lt. Ralph T. Welsh. This crew arrived at Seething 14th May 1944.
Rest of the crew were...
2nd Lt. Frank J. Erbacher (B)
2nd Lt. Phillip M. Goplen (N)
SSgt. Isadore A. Buechner
SSgt. Alfred R. Carrington
Sgt. Charles T. Berrier, Jr.
Sgt. Kenneth R. Snyder
Sgt. Robert K. Snyder
Sgt. Vincent K. Torfin.

I can also tell you that on the Mission of 21st June 1944 to Marienfelde, Germany, the crew of Lt. Ralph Welsh were flying B-24 serial# 42-94735 'Bim Bam Bola'.

Hope this is of some help to you.
Cheers,
Moofy
