I was a POW and spent most of my time in Stalag Luft 4. I have heard (or read) that Officers of Stalag Luft 3 had enlisted men (I assume from our downed aircraft) who were there to clean barracks, etc.
If this is true can someone tell me about these G. I.'s? How were they selected, did they volunteer? Did the Germans select them? How were they treated by our Officers? Did the have their own barracks? Any other information you may have.
