: : hello, I´m looking for any informations about missions to oranienburg (in the north of Berlin)...the maintarget were the "Auerwerke". Has anybody an idea if there are still some crew members alive, which were involved in these missions to Oranienburg?? A short answer would be nice:-) Kind regards
: I participated in the original mission to Oranienburg in the Fall of '43 while a member of the 390thBG. Contact me if you want any further information.
Dear Robert,
The 100th Bomb Group Hit this target 4 times and the 390th and 95th BG's were also part of these missions. I can tell you that there are crewmen still alive that flew these missions
Date Target
3/9/1944 ORANIENBURG (NEAR BERLIN)
3/22/1944 ORANIENBURG, FACTORY & BERLIN,CITY
3/15/1945 ORANIENBURG, MY
4/20/1945 ORANIENBURG, MY, LAST 100TH BG Mission
Gus, I have the feeling the mission you are referring too was when the 8th AF was briefed for Berlin on Dec 12, 1943 but the mission was scrubbed. Based on your list of missions posted on the 390 BG website, you finished your missions on the Brunswick mission Feb 10, 1944. The first mission to Oranienburg by the 390th, 100th and 95th was the March 9th, 1944 Mission. Did you go to Group Operations after that mission and stay at Station 153 or did you go to 13th Combat Wing? Those are the only two ways I can figure that you participated. Would love to know the answer from one of the "LEGENDS" of Capt. Geary's Crew.
