: I am researching a B-17G named "Dry Martini & the Cocktail Kids" that was the 3rd of 3 B-17's with the same name. It was stationed at Chelveston, England with the 305th & was named by Capt. Martini.
: I am also interested in a list of all the B-17's stationed at Chelveston, England under the 364th, 365th, 366th, & 422nd Bombardment Squadrons.
Hi Marvin,
Following on from Michaels message, I have a copy of the Roster and Roll of Honor 1996 for the 305th Bomb Group, which has the following..
Lt. Allen V. Martini from Catherdral City, CA was a pilot with the 364thBS 1942-1943, and it goes on to say Lt. Martini was pilot of "Dry Martini 1 & ll".
There does not appear to be a known serial numbers for all of the 'Dry Martini' aircraft, except there appears to be one serial# which is for "Dry Martini & the Cocktail Kids" .This is in Bill Donalds book as 42-5057. (This a/c went MIA Struttgart on 6th Sept. 1943 pilot was Lt. Ronald N. Dahly. Aircraft ditched in Channel, 1 crew member KIA, 2 EVD, 7 POW).
I have found a couple of nose art pics of "Dry Martini the 4th and the Cocktail Kids" in the book "Battles of the Luftwaffe" by Theo Boiten & Martin Bowman..
Cheers,
Moofy
