: I am researching a B-17G named "Dry Martini & the Cocktail Kids" that was the 3rd of 3 B-17's with the same name. It was stationed at Chelveston, England with the 305th & was named by Capt. Martini.
: I am also interested in a list of all the B-17's stationed at Chelveston, England under the 364th, 365th, 366th, & 422nd Bombardment Squadrons.
The second part of your email is easier than the first. Get William Donald's book "John Burn One-Zero-Five". This is a great book with the Best photos i have seen published on the 305th BG. In the back of the book is a list of all B-17's assigned to the 305th through it's time at Chelveston. This is the most updated source I have seen on 305th AC along with a/c names. Unfortunately, it does not have the serial numbers of all the Dry Martini and the Cocktail Kids" B-17. It does list one of them that went down in Sept. 43 but that was an F model.
This is one group that unfortunately has never had any kind of active designated Website/ Historian to take on these tasks like many of the the other Groups. It is Shame that such a distinguished Group like the 305th has so little information available.
Maybe Moofy or Ken or Fred have some other suggestions on how to find this number ? I only know of 6 books that have been put out on the 305th Bomb Group and none of them are unit histories. Along with the book mentioned above, there is: "Brotherhood of Courage" by Thom, "The Incredible 305th" by Morrison, "305th Bomb Group Anthology" by John Craven, "Wrong Place, Wrong Time" by Kuhl and the 305th Bomb Group by Turner Publishing. Hope this info helps
