: Hi John,
: Lt Col Wangerman was the co-pilot of 42-37946 "The Worry Bird" 452nd Bomb Group, 729th Squadron, when it failed to return due to mechanical trouble and crashed at St Goar, Germany. The MACR 2520 should give you some answers about this plane and crew. Wangerman would probably have given testimony about what happened when he returned from being a POW. This was common and his account would have been added to the report later than the first accounting. A copy is free from Lynn.Gamma@MAXWELL.AF.MIL It may take several weeks to receive this report. You could also get some information by logging on to www.armyairforces.com/dbgroups.asp?Group=264. You can ask your question on their forum or look for a post about Association, Website and Reunions and get some links and contacts with the 452nd Bomb Group that may yield some information.
