Hello all,
would anyone be able to confirm if there was a Flying Officer Iris Dillon T-1964 served with the 13th PRS in July 1944.
He was the pilot of of F-5B 42-68216 which was lost in a crash in Ireland on July 20th 1944. He was ok after the crash but the plane was destroyed. He told Irish Army he was on a training mission.
A book by Donal McCarron here says that he said he was with the 'Focus Cats' squadron but does not explain more. I see from littlefriends.co.uk picture gallery that the 13th PRS may have been known as the Focus Cats back then.
I have I think exhausted the internet and was wondering if anyone might know if he was with the 13th PRS. On the day of the crash he told Irish Army personell he was flying from station F456 which matches Chalgrove, home of the 10th PRG? 7th PRG was at Mount Farm, Sta 234. Perhaps he was staging from there on the training mission he said he was on.
Perhaps the book Eyes of the Eighth: A Story of the 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Group, 1942-1945 by Roger A. Freeman Patricia Keen might have some details? I'd invest if it does.
If anyone can help,
