: I'm looking for any information, photos, etc.(Bomb Group, squadron, plane name) re: Sgt. Armand Peltier, tailgunner KIA over Germany and Sgt William (Bill) Peltier who was killed on 5/28/1943 during B024 takeoff training. This is important to me as they were the uncles of my father-in-law who is failing. The only thing I have is a photo of them in uniform with 8th Air force patches. RHODE ISLAND 8TH A.F. VETS PLEASE TAKE NOTE - You may call me at (401)397-5538.

Hi Charlie,
I can tell you that S/Sgt. William L. Peltier was a member of Lt. William L. Derx's Crew of the 93rdBG/329thBS.
Their aircraft serial# 41-24309 crashed on take off while on a practise "photo-bombing' night flight on 28th May 1943, after an engine caught fire. The aircraft exploded upon hitting the ground. Out of the twelve crew members on board only three survived, Sergents Ward and Long, and Private Hudson.
The above information is from the book 'Ted's Travelling Circus' by Carroll (Cal) Stewart.
If you visit the Official Web Site of the 93rd Bomb Group URL.. http://www.93rdbombardmentgroup.com/index.htm
You may find further information in your search.

I presume that S/Sgt William L. Peltier's body was returned to the States after the war as his name is not listed in the ABMC Web Site, although I see that the pilot Lt. William L. Derx is buried at the American Military Cemetery at Cambridge.
Charlie I will e-mail you the crew list.

Cheers,
Moofy
