I found SILVER SLIPPER SN 42-32045, radio call letter "R" listed for the 96th BG, 339th BS in HEAVY BOMBERS OF THE MIGHTY EIGHTH by Andrews and Adams. They indicate that it was assigned to the 96th BG on 3/20/44. The was shot down by AA on 7/19/44 and crashed at either Koblenz, Germany or Reil, Germany. The loss of the crew is documented in MACR 7411. There is a picture of the plane on page 26 of B-17 FLYING FORTRESS IN COLOR, Squadron/Signal Publications, 1986 by Steven Birdsall and on page 20 of BOEING B-17 FLYING FORTRESS USAAC & AAF 1937-1945: CAMOUFLAGE AND MARKINGS NO.13 by Roger Freeman, 1971.
