: : Jesse was flying on his 4th or 5th mission on 43-38007, The Moldy Fig, when hit by flack and perished.

: : How do I go about finding out what happened to him. Where was he buried, overseas or was he brought home to Georgia?
: : TIA Jim G.

: Hi Jim,

: The listing shown in Project Bits and Pieces is for 2Lt Jefferson E. Gregory of Colquitt, GA. The MACR 7893 covers 43-38007 and crew and might possibly say something about where he might be buried but probably not. It would be worth getting a copy to find out. The report is free and available from Lynn.Gamma@MAXWELL.AF.MIL.

: There is no listing for him on the ABMC site as being buried in one of the cemeteries abroad. There does happen to be a S/Sgt Jefferson G. Gregory, also of the 487th Bomb Group, buried in Henry Chappell Cemetery but the date is wrong for your man.

: There were two survivors of the crew that might have some idea of the burial site. Maybe they are still alive and active members of the 487th BG Association. One is 2Lt Charlton A. Deuschle listed as being from Dallas, TX at the time and Sgt Robert J. Crooker of New York, NY. Both were POWs. Just a slim chance of finding them and seeing if they know anything.
