: I've been invited to a memorial ceremony in Belgium on 26May for this A/C. Does anyone know where I could find an After Action Report or info on this A/C and Crew? I have 100TH BG website info and photos, but looking for further research info
Hi Jim,
"Picklepuss" was 42-30063 LD of the 418th Squadron according to Project Bits and Pieces. This plane failed to return due German fighters and exploded and crashed at Schmalgraf, Belgium on 17 Aug 1943. The pilot was Capt robert M. Knox. There were 6 KIA and 4 POWs. The MACR 677 would be of interest to you. A copy is available by contacting Lynn.Gamma@MAXWELL.AF.MIL at no charge. You may have to wait several weeks for the report. There will be a crewlist with the report. Normally, I could give you the crewlist but this was early in the MACR listings and my reference doesn't give one.
I will be in Belgium at that time also to visit Ardennes Cemetery where my brother is buried. We will be there for the Memorial Day services.
Vic
