: You need about 10-15 years in different archives ! Good luck with your research.

: : Gentlemen,

: : I am researching all of the missions flown by USAAF during the war.

: : Although the 8th AF mission chronology is a good start, what I am looking for is down to Squadron participation, including the number of a/c flown.

: : Do I need to contact the unit historian's on a unit by unit basis?

Craig,
Unfortunately contacting all the Groups for this information will not solve the problem. The records for all the Groups and Squadrons are not as complete as we would all like. Unless you take the loading lists for EVERY mission by EVERY Squadron, you will have a very hard time figuring this out. The 100th BG records are unfortunately very incomplete in this area so we would not be able to give you this information. This is a very grandious project and I commend you but I am sure Roger Freeman would have included this in his book The Mighty Eighth War Diary had the information been readily available. Good Luck.

Regards,
Michael Faley
