Hi Keith,
Information below taken from by Edward J. Huntzinger 'The 388th At War'.
On Mission#19 Struttgart on the 6th September 1943, Lt. John Mayfield was the co-pilot on a/c serial# 42-3395 'Passionate Witch ll' and Pilot was Lt. Krueger.
Lt. Krueger was killed, and Co-pilot Lt Mayfield was very seriously wounded by a 20mm shell burst in the cockpit. Also, the waist gunner, S/Sgt. Hill was seriously wounded. Lt. Mayfield was able to bring their a/c back to base.
On this mission the 388thBG suffered heavy losses with the loss of 11 crews.
If you go to the following Web Site for the 388thBG...
http://www.388bg.org/Crews.html
you will find the crew list for Lt. Kruegers crew.
This Web Site has a great data base of aircraft & missions, so I am sure you will find more information.
I do not think there is a crew photograph available.
Cheers,
Moofy
