: Hello, My name is Terry Lantz. I'm 24 years old, My grandfather is Stanley W. Lantz. He served as a waist-gunner with the 452nd BG. I'm not sure what squadron or what tail number he served on. He is still alive but i just haven't asked him yet. It was an amazing moment to be standing on the same field that my grandfather stood 60+ years ago. I'm a SSgt in the US Air Force, 6 year veteran, and I was only deployed to england for two weeks. I was in Iraq in the beginning of the war 2003. I am an avionics technician on C-5 galaxies. I have been to quite a few places, but standing there on the old Deopham Green Airfield was the HIGHLIGHT of my career. I have the greatest honour and respect for my grandfather and the men he served with. You are true heroes and probably the greatest generation alive today. Thank you.

Hey Terry -

First, thanks for doing what you do for our country.

My grandfather flew with the 452nd BG in early '44. I, too, would love to visit the field.

You may have found this out by now, but a quick glance of the 452nd loading lists shows that your grandfather was part of the 728th Bomb Squadron. He flew (at least on the ones I looked at) with crew 13B, the Hubert Gay crew. He was a S/Sgt. at the time.

I took a quick look at the lists for missions 147 (10/9/44) and 148 (10/12/44) and found this info - but there are many others to comb through.

Feel free to shoot me an email if I can help out with anything else.

Respectfully,
Bill Freeman
