: Can anyone tell me how many B-24 groups there were in the 8th AAF during WWII and what were their group numbers. I would appreciate it as I am looking for a B-24 in the 8th named Umbriago. More specifically I am looking for a Navigator named Milton R. Johnson that flew with on a B-24 named Umbriago in the 8th AAF during WWII.

: Thanks ahead of time.

Jeff,

Found the following named Umbriago;
392nd BG 42-51126 and 4250337 Umbriago II
492nd BG 44-40068 (also with 467th BG)
446th BG 42-50280 and 42-50330 (also 489th BG)
448th BG No serial number
489th BG 42-50288

Some groups had both B-24s and B-17s and I didn't check these out.

Vic
