: Thank you Peter, Russ and Mike,
: but the solutions you suggest are not

: Only now the eyewitness has told me new facts:
: "It was more to the end of the month.
: A pair of FW 190 were attacked by a single P-38".
: Considering that date, I have find out that on 24th of May 1944 "Lightnings" made ground attacks
: on targets in Central-Germany (railroad Kassel-Halle).
: Could it happen on this date ?

Hi Gunter,

I can confirm that on the 24th May 44, my dear friend Jack Ilfrey (who passed away Oct.2004) was indeed on the mission to Berlin on that date.
Jack was credited on that day of downing two Bf-109's. Infact, one of the enemy a/c actually collied with Jack's P-38 'Happy Jacks Go Buggy' and tore off almost five feet of his right wing.
If you visit the following URL to the 'Tribute To Jack' Web Site by Syd Edwards, you can read about Jack's mission of the 24th May 44.
