: : Where do you send for copies of IDPF files? Would all information regarding the search for the original graves of MIAs be located in these files or are there other archives that should also be searched? The information I am seeking is not included in the MACR.

: Hi Laura,
: Follow this link http://www.armyairforces.com/help.asp
: Look down the page for File 293 IDPF. Think you will find this file will give you the information you are seeking.
: Don't know if any of the other chaps on this web site may have more info to pass on to you.

Laura,

Any pertinent information that was generated during a search for a deceased's original grave "should" likely be in the individual's 293 file. Now, we're talking about the 1940s here. All paper, tons and tons of paper, for multi-thousands of people. Hard telling what was saved, and what was trashed.

Don't hesitate to contact the folks who handle the 293 files. My limited experience has shown them to be very helpful.
