As Moofy said this plane was in the 91st Bomb Group out of Bassingbourne. The scene you describe was in the Memphis Belle documentary, which I still think is the best color WWII aviation film footage you can view!! I've had the privilege of talking to a number of the Ragged Irregulars who said they didn't even know Wyler was filming their missions for a documentary film.
