If Norman Gordon flew in B-17s with the 15th Air
Force, he probably would have been assigned either
to the 97th BG or the 463rd BG. Unfortunately, the
records on these two Bomb Groups are very sparse.
I have the names of the pilots who flew with the
2nd, 99th, 301st, and 483rd Bomb Groups and he did
not fly with any of these units. There were only
six B-17 Groups (5th Wing) assigned to the 15th
Air Force. Suggest you contact the 97th and 463rd
on the armyairforces site. The historians of those
units my be able to provide some information
