I am looking for information on my uncle, Estill E. Lord. He was born on June 18, 1911. He died November 26, 1944 in England. He was stationed at Kings Lynn, England, at one point. All I have is that he was a 1st Lt. in the 8th Air Force and that his records are part of those lost in the vault fire in St. Louis. He first enlisted in the Army on June 11, 1928 at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. His last re-enlistment was June 12, 1942, after which he was an officer. I have some pictures of him in uniform that someone else might be able to use to determine his unit. I have no clue what the insignia or uniform style means. As far as I know, he was not a pilot, but that doesn't mean anything, it just means I don't know. He died of meningitis and was buried over there, then re-interred at Ft. Snelling later. I am trying to clear up some family misconceptions about his record and have gotten interested in him personally. I would like to know anything anyone might be able to tell me. Thank you.
