My grandfather was a radioman on a B-17 in the 306 BG, 368th Squadron. He passed away in April, 1981 and myself, being born in 1975 had the opportunity to know him but feel that I need to know more about him. I have done some very limited research, but I seem to always run into the same brick walls. I do know this... He was a POW at Stalag 17b. He was shot down over St Nazaire France( forgive spelling), on January 3rd 1943. I also had the opportunity to talk to a member of his crew (Charles Edinger) in 1988 when I did an 8th grade speech about POW's in World War 2. I'm not really sure exactly what I'm looking for, but any information that someone can give me would be great. Someone in passing conversation told me that in Bel Air MD., I could veiw original military papers completed by him due to the fact that he was a radioman. Is this true? Thanks for any help
