A Great Honor

Hi All,

I just wanted to share that I had the honor of speaking to one of my late Grandfather's crewmates last night.

They flew aboard the B-17 "Punchboard" (42-39974, 452nd/731st) and force-landed at Vaerlose, Denmark 09-APR-1944. All 10 crewmembers were made POW.

Mr. Charles Garrett was the radio operator aboard the plane and has been a friend of the family since, but I didn't know him personally. I spoke to him at length about his recollections of the time and was honored to have the opportunity. This was the first time I had spoken to anyone on the plane that day - other than my grandfather.

These wonderful folks are fewer and fewer these days and their experiences are invaluable. That they share with us these experiences is priceless.

Bill
