The plane was named Rose Marie after the wife of the pilot that was killed in action when the plane went down in the English Channel.

: There was a Hot Rocks (42-30308) and a Hot Rocks II (42-30411). Hot Rocks II and Rose Marie appear to have both been the same plane (42-30411). Both planes were assigned to 390BG/568BS. 42-30308 ditched in the Channel on Aug 24, 1943. 42-30411 was assigned to 390BG/568BS on Aug 6, 1943 with the name of Rose Marie. It crashed near Norden, Germany on Dec 11, 1943. In the reference material I have, I did not find any B17 named Jakes Place. Hope this helps. David
