Any former 305th, 306th or 92nd Bomb group personnel that may have flown this mission, August 3rd 1944, to the Merkwiller-Pechelbronn oil refinery, would you please make contact! Since 1997 I have been researching the story, gathering records etc. Personal diary accounts, memories sort to complete the work I started such a long time ago! Particularly wish to learn any first hand accounst from 306th BG that flew behind their Commander of that day, Maurice Salada. Wish to confirm or disprove the alleged navigational error during mission, which cost the only 306th death, that of Lt Robert Nabors - Navigator aboard Salada's plane.
