Hi Steve,
The 306th Bomb Group forum can be reached at www.armyairforces.com/dbgroups.asp?Group=127. There should be some links and contacts found there and also questions can be posted on the forum.
I found "Prayers and Patches" 42-40053 on the 306th roster but the only thing mentioned was that it was condemned for salvage due to non-battle damage on 5 Oct 1944. Possibly your dad's crew was flying another AC when it went down or it was not lost over the Mediterranean. There was no MACR listed for this AC. If you can furnish some names of the other crewmen, I can research the AC in question.
