On May 12, 1944 three B-17's from the 452nd bomb group crashed near Merzhausen.
MACR # 4778 Walter Naylor, pilot: MACR # 4779 Robert Patrick, Pilot: MACR #
4823 Joseph Thomas, pilot. Three B-17's from the 96th bomb group also crashed
