Thank you Barry, yes, i'm sure it was a B-17 cause the pieces recovered from the crash site and the few witness still alive.
I'm searching in the little town around the crash site, looking for other witness and documents from the cemetery where the bodyes was buried.
Another 8th air force B-17 went down in Po Valley on august 17 1943, near Fidenza (Santa Margherita) attempting to join an allied airfield after the Regensburg and Schweinfurt bombing.
