: Hello,
: I'm looking for a P-38"Lightning" victory over a FW190
: in May 1944 in the area Magdeburg-Brunswick-Oschersleben-Helmstedt.
: After hit by the P-38, the german pilot bailed out,
: his plane crashed to the ground.
: Is there a chance for identify the P-38 and pilot?
: 8thAF raids against german targets in May'44 were to my
: knowledge on: 8/12/19/28/29/30.
: Fighter Groups equiped with P-38's in May '44:
: 20FG, 55FG, 364FG, 479FG.
: Unfortunately I have no list for "USAAF European Theater WWII victory credits".

: Thank you and regards
: Günter

Only "destroyed" claim that fits his dates is on 12 May 1944 when Lt. Noah R Tipton of 55FG 38 FS claimed 1 x FW190 destroyed air-air at Weisbaden. Tipton was himself shot down nine days later when he became a POW on May 21st. Only other possibilities would be claims for 2 x FW190s "damaged" by 364th FG at Lubeck Bay and Trenemunde Airfield on 19 May.
