May 12, 1944, saw heavy loses suffered by the 452nd Bomb Group, to which "Princess Pat" belonged. "Princess Pat", flying #3 in the high squadron, was hit in the #4 engine south of Koblenz. All of the crew on board, piloted by 2nd LT Bruce Davis, of Winterville, GA, survived the crash.
In all, the 452nd BG lost 17 bombers on this mission, their worst single day of the War.
